Received my little carved bird from Oregon and realized “little carved bird” does not begin to describe what emerged from the securely wrapped parcel. Captured in time was a wide-eyed bold blue figure frozen in flight. The simple composition and elegant proportion of the art piece juxtaposed the mirthful cartoon personality and its charmingly whimsical expression. They say an artist is one who looks at the same thing as everyone else yet sees something different. Those little blocks of bare wood we see scattered around Mr. Denton’s studio must appear to him as flocks of friendly fowl anticipating taking flight in all directions bringing delight to everyone they visit. I am very pleased with my purchase and my space is happier for it. I may need to make room for a flock.
